I'm soo done with ACH

So yesterday, I'm cruising on ACH, just cruising obeying the laws. Couple riders pass by and give me the tap on the helmet sign. Next thing you know CHP Gonzales passes me on the opposite direction and I see his brake lights. There were two big trucks in front of me, one fedex and one dually. They pulled over one by one to shoulders so i can pass by. Three corners later, he pulls me over.
-Do you know why I pulled you over?
-No idea???
-First you crossed the double yellow line!and..
-No, I didn't, the trucks both pulled over to the shoulder, so I can pass.
-AND you were speeding!
-No I wasn't.

He comes back with a ticket 80mph on a 45mph.
I asked him how he determined the speed, he says he paced me. I was like "The same way you saw me crossing the double line, right?" He goes you don't see that on your ticket do you?
So instead of arguing with him more I just signed my ticket and asked him politely. "How do you sleep at night?"

It's one thing to speed and get caught and then cry but when you are not speeding, and you get a 80 on a 45...

This same guy pulled me over last year, because he believed that I was going fast, when I asked him how he determined that he said "My lean angle in the corner" I told him I can put my knee down with 25mph in a parking lot. He just stayed quiet, gave me my paperwork and let me go.
I never got a speeding ticket in ACH, and I go almost every week. I know they are hiding there somewhere, which is fine. But to give a bs ticket like this...

My only experience with chp was not very good , but I also think in some ways all speeding tickets are BS . I can drive ten mph over the speed limit and am not 10% more likely to die.
cagers text and talk on the cel and no tickets given . yet we know that cel phones kill people .
Its not fair , Cops are only there to serve protect and increase revenue, cops levy taxes called speeding tickets. In some ways I don't blame them as much as the government.

if it were me I would fight it .

On a Thursday?! My guess is that they're going to be stepping up patrol on ACH and the local canyons over the next week as the 4th is coming up.

The state needs money and latey I've been seeing the CHP everywhere; offramps, under bridges, behind trees!!

My dad called me last week b/c he got a 40 mph in a 35 zone and since he hasn't gotten a ticket in over 25 yrs, he didn't know how to handle it.

I say avoid most canyon passes because the CHP or local police are stepping up enforcement and citing anybody they can.

Pasadena is about to "unleash" their speed traps for more revenue. This could become a trend.

Quote:
California Legislators Prepare to Unleash Speed Traps in Pasadena
Proposed law would allow Pasadena, California to lower speed limits to generate more traffic tickets.

A state Senate committee will vote today on whether to gut an anti-speed trap law that has protected California drivers for the past seventy-six years. Assembly Bill 564, introduced by Assemblyman Anthony Portantino (D-Pasadena), exempts his home city from the statute that now requires any jurisdiction using radar on a road receiving federal aid to use engineering safety studies to establish speed limits. The exemption for Pasadena passed the state Assembly by a 51-17 vote last month.

With a tightening budget, Pasadena officials hope to be the first jurisdiction to permit police officers to wield radar guns on roads with radically lowered speed limits. According to the Senate's own analysis, Pasadena's primary purpose is increasing the number of traffic tickets issued, not safety.

"When asked if there were a safety issue associated with speed on these streets, the city of Pasadena was not able to provide evidence that there was a higher collision rate, or any other type of incident that would indicate a safety problem," the Senate Transportation Committee's bill analysis explained. "Posting a lower speed limit, however, is not likely to slow traffic down. The 85th percentile has long been used as the standard for setting speed limits because experience has shown that the majority of people drive at a speed that feels safe for the conditions. If the conditions do not change on the roadway, drivers will continue to drive at their current speed. Because this bill allows for radar enforcement on segments that were not justified on the grounds of an engineering and traffic survey, this situation will likely cause more motorists to be cited for speeding."

The bill also allows Pasadena to declare streets as part of "residential districts" -- which have a 25 MPH speed limit -- even when the area lacks the appropriate number of homes to qualify as residential. This modification also allows the use of radar on these streets without an engineering study.

"The sponsor argues that many of the posted speed limits are not enforceable if they were not set in accordance with a valid engineering and traffic survey," the Senate analysis explained.

California's speed trap law states that speeding tickets may not be issued on collector roads where a proper study has not been completed within five years -- unless the police officer proves in court that the driver's speed was unsafe for conditions. Portantino originally intended his bill to remove this requirement statewide, but he later scaled back his bill to cover Pasadena. If enacted, however, the cities of Altadena, Arcadia, Duarte, La Canada Flintridge, Mayflower Village, Monrovia and Temple City are likely to be next in line to demand the same ability to lower city speed limits.

To become law, the legislation would still need to clear the full Senate before being sent to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) whose position on the legislation is not known. The Assembly Transportation Committee expects to hold another hearing in the fall about bills to lower speed limits.

My DDA came in handy this week. I was pulled over for speeding (which I wasn't) by the Military police( I was on base). They claimed I was speeding 45 in a 35 and I knew I wasn't becaue I was in 3rd gear cruising...I asked them how they determined my speed and they said that they got me with their radar gun.. I told them they needed to call thes hift supervisor and have him come so I can prove them wrong. When he arrived they explained what was going on and he seemed upset at me. He asked why I requested him since I was going to get the ticket anyway. I explained I can prove his people wrong..he laughed and asked how? I asked to pul out my computer.. He looked puzzeld and said ok.. I pulled it out turned it on and pulled out my DDA..he was realy confused now and he was asking what that was...I explained that it was a data logger and would tell me what speed I was at at the time they "gunned me" I got it all upa nd showed him everything...At the time they claimed they gunned me, the DDA claimed I was in 2nd gear doing 24mph.... and that my top speed( from the time I got on to the base) was a max of 33mph....He was thoroughly impressed and I got out of my ticket.

Dudes, you've gotta do your civic duty... The reason CHP is being used to tax riders like this is because it works. But, it is still taxation without representation. Hence the civic duty point. YOU HAVE TO FIGHT THE TICKETS IN COURT. If it makes it costlier for them, they may have to think of another way to get your money.

Got 3 tickets inside 1 month in Dec-Jan, fought 2 and won. Went weak on the 3rd and took the traffic school, regretted it afterwards.

Be a good citizen, you will be helping everyone.

I've been avoiding ACH for good reason - this is one of the reasons why.

thats a bogus ticket.... i would fight it.

on my way back from spring mountain raceway in pahrump, my buddy got pulled over right after we crossed state line for tinted windows and not having proper side view mirrors. he needed the extended ones bc he was towing a toy hauler. i asked what state we were in bc limo tint is legal in nevada, and he said 'you just crossed stateline'. he was literally waiting with another officer for people to cross stateline.

i told my buddy he's helping the state.

on another note, i believe if they legalize marijuana, that will not only get us out of debt, but put us in surplus. thats a multibillion dollar industry.

Don't you know the CHP is just making rooms for the truckers to lose their brakes and crash at the bottom of the hill? You just can't have a bunch of motorcyles in their way. We're like potholes to those big rigs.
