which exhaust was that? stock 1098 or the aftermarket


edit; after watching again 1098s stock. those are good numbers without exhaust and ECU

From my post in the "160 HP may lead to disappointment" thread:

IF the British dyno numbers are accurate, the band from 6K to 9K is significantly stronger than the '06 Suzuki, by as much as 18 HP at 7500 (where the Ducati is 130, the Gixxer is 112). This is referencing Motorcycle Online's '06 liter bike shootout, where the Zook came in at 161.6 HP at 11,200 RPM. At 9K, the Duc is about 146 HP and the Suzuki is about 138 HP, about an 8 HP advantage. Nowhere is the Suzuki stronger until they go past about 9700 RPM, where they match and the Gixxer continues linearly to 161.

If recent history for piped 999's is applicable, when the 1098 gets piped or even "decatalysted" , I'm sure it will do a credible job of keeping up by hitting high 150s or 160 at 10,500 RPM or so. Dudes, this is uncharted territory for showroom twins.

OK, just curious. :moped :wflag Are the manufacturers going to agree to "jointly limit" HP/Speed again....??? i.e The 2001 GSX-R 705 beat out the then liter bikes in "pure" speed. Did I miss something, or are we headed to another escalation in the liter class+ (busa/ZX-14) "challenge?" Just playing Devil's advocate here guys. But at what point does homoligation (AMA/World Super Bike) give us more than we can handle??

Wow. 148.21rwhp from a 420# twin. Man... To think that we're all so satisfied with the 110rwhp 996 and RSV-R all this time (or at least I was).

Good enough for me. The Ducati superbikes were putting out 165rwhp at the turn of the century with monster tuning, no?

This is GREAT news. Especially when all of the 2006 Japanese liter bikes were putting out around 149-152 rwhp, but not nearly as much torque as the 1098. here are some numbers from a shootout done by Motorcycle-USA (one of the better online reviewers) for the 2006 Superbike Smackdown: http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/Article_Page.aspx?ArticleID=3149&Page=1

Also, the 1098 is much lighter than all of these bikes too, so it is going to kick serious butt next year in the magazine shootouts :badgerslayer
