Hi,
I'm curveguy from Belgium. I don't have put down a deposit on a 1098 yet.
I've sold my beautiful 996 mid september and bought myself a brand new
Multistrada 1100S (in black).:BangHead
I'm Ducatista for over 14 years now and have allways owned DUCATI Superbikes (888, 916, 996, 748SP, 996). The Multistrada is my first
non-superbike. The moment i've seen the 1098 i felt that my hart belongs with red racebikes, only DUCATI! I will wait for the 848 though which will come by the end of 2007.
I wish you all a MERY X-MAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR and loads of 1098-fun for 2007!
PS: Sorry for the poor English.:wflag GREAT FORUM, read it every day!

Why are you waiting for the 848?
Just bought the Multi and i have to negociate with the wife.
She is also a very big DUCATI-fan, but 2 new bikes in 4 months is
a bit much. I would lose too much money now on the Multi.
I get the same price next year but then the 848 will probably be available.
The 1098 is a bit much for street use only. Belgium has changed a lot
in regards with traffic. The penalty's are bigger, the speed camera's are uncountable, something all Belgians here can confirm..........

Why are you waiting for the 848?
I have a 'floating' deposit down with my dealer ;) which gives me the option of 1098 now or waiting for the 848.
The reason is that I would prefer the 848. IMHO the 748 and 749 have always had a different 'feel' than the larger displacement bikes, one that I like.
For me, it's not an issue of the 1098 being too much, but one of riding style and enjoyment. I like the way the smaller displacement bikes 'feel' and am assuming the 848 will be no different.
I know someone will ask, but my riding comparisons have been between a 999s and a 749s, and between my son's base 996 and a friend's base 748.

Those are very good reasons to wait. :beer

Hey, i totally understand what you're saying.
After all, i bought my 749R after the 999R and the MV, but to be honest i don't think i would have done that again, because, unlike what usually happen with the 600cc vs 1000cc japs (where you have a whole dfferent bike), the difference between a Ducati "SBK" with 1000cc or with 750cc is just the engine displacement (not exaclty in the case of the 749R, but...), in the same bike.
So yes there a small difference, but not that much of a difference. ;)

Welcome! I'd too would rather get the 848, if Ducati finally announces it! If it doesn't happen, then a 1098 will follow.
welcome! I have spent some good times in Belgium and other regions in that area... Glad to have you here!

Toekomstig 1098 eigenaar, of ga je als 749-eigenaar voor de 848 zoals ik?
