Got the new Iron Maiden last week - kinda sucks, only listened to it 3-4 times. Pretty much gonna be a drink coaster, I think.

There's a new UFO CD out, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere.

Downloaded a bunch -like 4 live concerts - of Buckethead and have been playin' the poop outta that. The guy jams. If anyone wants a copy, let me know.

Senser, Static X and some old Suicidal Tendencies as well.

Senser, Static X and some old Suicidal Tendencies as well.

And Judella's Barry Manilow Christmas CD I'm sure...

It's been a while since I've listened to anything other than radio. I'm in teh mood lately where I think all my cds suck. I'm sure Eric would be happy to back me up on that! :biggrin

Hey now, I've got some pretty horrible CDs, but I do NOT have that one! That song has sucked since day one...

You're just jealous of my Springsteen collection. (Whichby the way does NOT suck,,, I'm just not in the mood lately)

For some reason I can't get this Freddy Mercury song outa my head...
I saw a promo video at work today and it had this song edited into it done really well.. and ever since I can't stop singin it (to myself of course) lol

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdVdNnXiQTc

He was one talented singer.. no doubt. What's crazy is this song is 27 years old and it still has not aged imo. It's one of those songs that just puts you in a good mood :)

Sing it Freddy!

In Earache's honor, on my way in to work today, my last day of work this year, I listened to Cheap Trick Live at Budokan.

Because Earache, I want you, to want.... ME!

Mommy's alright,
Daddy's alright,
but Earache's a little weird....

My ears are still ringing, which may present an issue if I'm called on to do any sound evaluations this morning... :badgerslayer

Jesse Cook. Since he is coming to Banff in May and have tickets. BB King and Van Morrison are also coming to Calgary and have tic's because they are institutions!

Do any of you "U Hauls" know of Ian Tyson? Famous Alberta folk/country singer? He is 75 years old and just saw him perform live in a small country hall near where he still ranches by Longview, Alberta. He wrote a lot of songs that others have re-done.

Todays music just doesn't work for me. For instance Cold Play, I can listen to one song and it sounds OK. If I'm forced to listen to the whole album I'm ready to slit my throat.

Rush - Snakes & Arrows, Vapor trails, Power Windows, and Presto queued up tonight.

Best damn thing Canada ever exported was Rush music. Been a Rush fan my entire life. Grew up listening to it when my parents were in their partying hey-days and been a die hard fan since then. Saw them twice at the Tweeter center (now named something else) at Tinley park in Chicago, for R30 tour and Vapor trails tour, once in Peoria IL during their Roll the Bones tour back in the mid 90's. Good times. Favorite rush song is 2112. Play along with it all the time on my Gibson in the basement.

Neil Peart, besides being an avid motorcyclist is one of the best drummers around. Loved his book Ghost Rider, that guy went through hell and back.

Yes he did. Losing his kid and wife in the same year.. it's amazing he's rebounded back from that. Gotta admire someone who finds the resolve to keep going after it all. I honestly don't know if I would be able to... I haven't read Ghost Rider yet, but it's on the list for wintertime when I do all my reading by the fireplace. As far as his percussion skills I agree 100% with you, he's definitely one of the all time greats, if not THE all time great.

The coolest thing about him is his humbleness - after all his accomplishments, he STILL takes drum lessons in different styles to keep learning. It's amazing. There's a lot to take from that attitude towards life.

Musically, I think they're one of the most proficient, varied, and creative groups ever to grace the planet. They're timing is impeccable and they layer things in harmony together so well it's like they've managed to put the essense of their thoughts and emotions out there in a tangible form for people to experience.

Alex Lifeson is exceptionally gifted at guitar. I've seen a lot of concerts from different artists and so far he's the only one I've seen that plays with absolute precision. I've been trying to learn and get better at various Rush songs for years on 6 and 12 string accoustics, and electric, and it's tough.

However Geddy Lee manages to play highly complex Bass lines and sing at the same time defies logic. It's like he was born with two separate brains, one controlling his hands and the other controlling his voice.

BTW Neil Peart just had a new baby girl with his wife Carrie last week, named Olivia. Guess things are back on track for him.

Anyway I hope they keep making music for awhile.

Good for Neil regarding his new kid! I'm real happy for him. Reading Ghost Rider sure gave me a lot of respect for the guy.

Trent, click on the link I posted they let you listen to a live Buddy Rich tribute. It's all jazz and Neil plays the drums. It's amazing.

That is extremely complex. I never could "get" jazz timing, rythm, or scales and it's difficult for me to appreciate it fully. I think it's easily one of the most difficult forms of music.

They're playing incredibly tight though. Impeccable. There's a lot of sublety to that piece. Had to listen twice to pick up on a lot of what's going on.

You can tell Neil put a lot of his own mark in to that arrangement. Man that guy has skill.
