SLOW DANCE

Have you ever watched kids

On a merry-go-round?

Or listened to the rain

Slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?

Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You better slow down.

Don't dance so fast.

Time is short.

The music won't last.

Do you run through each day

On the fly?

When you ask How are you?

Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done

Do you lie in your bed

With the next hundred chores

Running through your head?

You'd better slow down

We'll do it tomorrow?

And in your haste,

Not see his

Ever lost touch,

Yepp.. I try to live life like her poem says, but sometimes
you need a reminder to slow down and open your eyes..

a friend in college; his mom battled cancer for 15 yrs. i met and knew her, and she was absolutely one of the most friendly and positive people ive ever met.
i worked in a hospital for several yrs, some cancer patients left, some did not not.
for a young girl, age unknown, to express what im sure is thought by many of us adults is impressive, truly. i guess the trick is...well, i don't think there is a trick.
my philosophy is not to get pleasure from the job, but allow it to afford me pleasure in my life. unfortunately, philosophy differs from reality a bit.

but a plea to the rest of us to think about what was on HER mind as it was about to be cut short

This morning I was in the barbershop awaiting a haircut, and in the chair was an older guy (probably about 60's to 70's). He was mentioning how nice it was to see the sun out, and how great it was just to be able to wake up in the morning.

Thanks Greg, its moments like this that give you the "Gut" check that you need to help you focus on the important things in life. I get so caught up in my daily life that I often loose focus on whats really important. With all of the deadlines and Production Targets its hard to break the cycle. Thank you for sharing Greg!

I'm VERY guilty of this but going to do something with the boys tonight cause I just spent the last several minutes thinking about how many times I have said that very thing.

Thank you for the poem, it rings very true. I was 32 when my son was born and I had the wisdom to hold his little hand every time we walked somewhere. I kept telling myself "he won't be little very long, cherish every time he holds your hand." I did and now he's 14 and nearly as big as I am. It's just an example of how one should never take what they have for granted, life is very dynamic and change is inevitable.

I bought my nephew a tickle me elmo extreme....well he had one already, so the other night I went to the denver childrens hospitol and donated it......it was the happiest and saddest day of my life.
