Anthony we pass is going down the 74 when we go to Idyllwild. It's much more technical than the crest & Idyllwild with decreasing radius turns, but it's tons of fun! Arnie & I need to get you & Will out to Palomar in the coming weeks for sure :scooter

Yep I'm going to see if I can sneak out of work for this one. I haven't been up there for a looooong time so I will difintely be the back marker on this one.

I dont think I'm ready for something more technical than the crest, I hate decreasing radius turns... I wouldn't mind riding it but just not at a pace that I could keep up with you and Arnie....

Your pace is fine Anthony, just stay within yourself. You go at a pretty good clip, when you are able to lead, you'll be ready to rock & roll! Don't sell your skills short. :notworthy

:1. You can handle Palomar no problem Anthony...don't psyche yourself out. It doesn't take long to get to the top of Palomar and we usually go up and down at least twice, so you'll definitely get more comfortable after the first time up. The road surface is really clean too; not nearly as bumpy as the Crest. I must admit if I had to rank the 4 popular riding places in order from most to least favorite it would be: 1.) Idyllwild 2.) Palomar 3.) The Crest 4.) Malibu Canyons
The coolest thing about Palomar is it reminds me of a track for some reason, I mean you start on this somewhat long straightaway and then you hit turn 1 (it's a doosey) and you're automatically put in "the zone".

Hello. I havent ridden with you guys but I'd like to get in on the Palomar ride. I rode with Ara the other day and he says you guys are alot of fun to ride with. The only thing I don't like about that ride is you have to eat sissy/veggie food at the top. Well, the ride definately makes up for it. Where do you all meet up?
Notorious DSB
06-03-2007, 01:23 AM
We can always pack our own lunch if you don't like the veggie stuff. We just got to find a guy with a backpack to bring it all.

Well theres a Taco stand that I eat at often too, problem is they dont take credit and i ALWAYS forget to have cash on me when I go.
:D
Oh and I asked for Saturday the 16th off too. Ill let you guys know if i get the day off, i might move the ride to that day if i can.

There's a great Mexican restaurant that Arnie (Nucking Futs) and I ate at one time that's really close to Palomar. Ask Arnie where it is though. Great thing about Palomar is you can ride all of the adjacent roads: Banning, and Montezuma. Heck we can even stop in Julian for some great burgers and pie :slam.
I'd be in if you can change it to Saturday the 16th, but I work on Fridays.

I'm in for whatever you guys decide on. We could always find our own food up the twisties. I herd there is some great fried Suzuki and grilled Yamaha on the way. Then again I can never "pass up" the opportunity of a nice piece of fat Harley.
:devil
Were are the LA people going to meet up? I live in the middle of Topanga Canyon.

Most of us normal folk do work on Fridays... then again, I am not independently wealthy like Arnel nor did I have money for a new Ducati Superbike with matching Spidi suit at age 22 like Mark. (Just being facetious)
I'm less than 10 minutes east of downtown LA and I can meet up wherever. Anthony (1stDuc) is in Monrovia, about 20 minutes northeast of me.

You like that place because of the hot latina waitress! The joint is called Spanglish and it's on 79. Good food.
There's also a taco stand called Jilbertos at the base of the mountain which is closer.
And there's Julian Pie Company in Santa Ysabel if you take Mesa Grande from the 76.
Anyways, there's lots of choices if you don't care for the veggie food at Mothers.

Ah... I see you have done your homework, Arnie!
But then again, this shows the importance of updating and verifying your intel with local informants who are on the ground and can give real-time data.
I do not have 3 bikes in the garage, unless you count my Ducati 49RR racer. The 3rd bike is at the mechanic's shop awaiting a battery and new tires. So there!
