View Full Version : How about when a forum member screws ya, we ban them?

I've been hit a few time from forum members (different forums) over the years. Most of the time, I'm in good enough with the forum mods to ban the guy, but its not a hard-fast rule.

It might certainly keep scammers and people intentionally trying to steal from people from selling.

AND, some forums have a rule you must have at least 50+ posts to post in the for sale section, as well as a feedback (member rating system).

I just got dinged from a member for $500 :limp , I would gladly contribute to get this up and running :)

:shock 1098-forum member? That's :bullshit . I thought that type of stuff only went on the R1-Forum, where I've gotten stiffed for $185, but was hoping Ducatisti had more class.

Can you out him or is that a no go here? (Trying to find the thread, this isn't that jacket thing is it?)

Please give me the details and I would be happy to ban anyone that is here to scam anyone.

As for the other rules, we can implement those as well. We thought that being this forum was a little different that we may not need to enforce rules of this nature. Since this seems not to be the case here, let's here the issues and we will address them.

So was this something posted for sale here on the forum?

yep... I don't wanna throw anyone under the bus, but for $500, I'll do more than that.

Last year on the 1000rr.net forum, I bought a Ohlins rear shock from a guy for $750, he sent me a sticker. I traced him on hollywoodbikenight.com forum (the thread is still there)... It has over 1200 replies and over 18,000 views.. lol.. he was even banned from his own club there in LA, and last I heard his parents shipped HIM back to Japan.

Maybe I can make a name for him on the Chevy and Camaro forums.. lol

I can also help with finding the actual person behind the name if needed.

here's the thread... I see he's removed the detail/pic on the jacket...

and here's a thread regarding someone that sent me nothing for $750 a year ago... 1124+ replies, and over 18,000 views

I remember the thread announcing his desire to sell his 1098 and xl(?) jacket. You or someone asked about buying it separately. He listed it for 500, a new corse was it? Then I think there was a post you'd received it.

Then I saw your string to get his attention after trying to pm him about it being a copy. I guess he's disappeared?

He was here at 6:22pm today, I have sent him a pm so time will tell if we can work this out.

I hope so for everyones sake.

Glad you all are working on this. I agree with R1Lover's decision to implement the 50 post rule. Good work on protecting the members here.

One suggestion would be to have two new forum areas.

One would list posts by member citing GOOD experiences with transactions between forum members.

The other would list the BAD.

That way, when someone is considering a transaction, he or she could look that the lists to get some idea if the other person is trustworthy or not.

As for me, I'd gladly put some posts in the GOOD section as I've had positive experiences with members here.

That really sucks that you got taken for a ride. I hate scammers. And this forum member you are referring to sounded legit, i.e. his friend passed away now he's giving up riding for good, blah blah blah...

I hope you get a resolution in one way shape or form.

So far he has chose not to respond after reading my first pm.

I sent one more, if nothing happens this time, then his access to this server will be refused.

This is not the outcome I want here, but if he fails to explain his side of the story then it leaves us no choice.

I'm sorry but it looks to be that he got away with one here, I would proceed to pursue it with paypal as well.

I hope he does make contact. He seemed like such a nice guy that was coping with a tragedy.

Well you never know, I was trying to help a guy today and I ended up getting screwed myself...... Some people out there are here for nothing more then to screw people over. It was a similar situation... bought something I thought was the real thing and it wasn't after I got home and checked it out. I was in a hurry and wanted to help... but got screwed in the end... :lmao

That's very nice of you to offer... maybe if houstonrider sells the jacket he got on fleabay and then we can try to make up the difference?

p.s. still no word from the seller... he has read both of my pm's to him concerning this... and has chose not to answer either one of them...and all I did was ask for his side.

I guess this means he really was a scammer.. I would hate to think this, but 1+1=2

This user has been removed from access to this server.

I'm not sure why he would not respond but he did read both of my pm's and failed to respond.

bye bye scammer.

That's a well orchestrated scam! First he tells us about a friend that died in an accident to gain our sympathy. Then claims he's giving up riding and is selling everything.

Wow, what people would go through just to gain a few bucks.

To be honest I still question that it may have been true... I can't see someone using that line to scam anyone... but what I can't figure out is why he would not even try to explain his side of the story... I was very nice in my pm, just asking what his take on it was. Still nothing. :(

oh well.... Let's all take this as a learning experience I guess.

How about a board of inquiry? www.subguns.com (http://www.subguns.com) has one and it works very well. Anyone here thinking of buying something posts: Anyone had any experience with so and so?

People who know the party being asked about can respond positively or negatively.

how about if I post the jacket up for sale on fleabay and the proceeds (minus the fees) will be forwarded to the 1098 forum for donation?

The $500 isnt gonna change my life, but maybe we can make something good out of the whole thing.

That is very generous of you.... It's really not needed as the sponsors we have now are pulling the weight now witch is a good thing.

But we could facilitate something for the forum if you want us to.... If you have some ideas let me know, I would be more then happy to hear them.
