Can someone from Germany explain a bit more about the risk driving with the Termi's slip-on is?
What I've heard is:
- if they catch you got a fine plus have to leave your bike untill you prove you installed a CE exhaust
- with DB-killers you still have to prove it has that CE rating (which I don't believe came with the slip-on race kit)
- do they have a lot of db-measurement equipment or are they acting on the 'I think this bike is to loud'

What I've seen is:
-very correct, you will need to get your CE exhaust and install it before taking the bike back home.
-Yes, they will search for the CE E3 logo on the pipe, slip ons or full system do not have them.
-I drove with a CE approved AKRA the last years, with DB killer inside, never had problems, they never pulled me over.
For termis you better drive over there with DB killers mounted, then you will have not much of a problem.
!!! Also, avoid Ruhrsee area (Eifel) during weekends, because there is a lot of control on sound AND SPEEDING. Go over there on midweek days, no problem at all then.
I was stationed in Germany for 5 years, had a ZX6R with a LOUD pipe on it. Never really caught any flak for it, but things could have changed. I remember that the locals had to go through a pretty rigorous inspection (TUV?), but we never messed with that.

I had the Titanium Termis on my 998 for 50.000 KM - no problems.
Follow the rules and do not visit popular places where are to many bikes. In Bavaria I always used my OEM, this area is horrible.
If they catch you they can, worst case, hold the bike and you have to come back to rebuild it to origin. They are allowed to keep the illegal exhaus system. Last but not least you have to pay a lot of EUR and you will receive some points, German system, if you collect too much you are not allowed to drive anymore and to get back the liscense .........
GEt the "E3" logo for your Termi's and they won't fine you.

There is no single truth with open exhausts in Germany, unfortunately. Different cops act differently within the freedom they have. They don't have to stop you riding but they have the opportunity.
As said above: by all means, avoid the common gathering points and take it easy in the villages and cities.
A lot of my friends ride with open exhausts and few of them ever had serious problems.
Legally, exhausts, that are too loud, are too loud, no matter if they have the logo or not.
Therefore, the idea to fake the E3 Logo and number will not help you. Actually, if you get caught having faked it, you are proper f***ed. Riding with an exhaust that is too loud is a regulartory offence, faking the licence is a criminal offence (falsification of documents) and in the extreme could end up in jail.
Should you have an E3 exhaust and no db killers in them, you may get a reasonable fine (50-100€), have to put the killers in and you will be allowed to continue riding.
If your exhaust is not too extreme and you have killers in them, most cops will probably let you go, with or without E3 logo.
Once they get tough and do not have the sound check equipment with them, they have to take you to the nearest TUV station IF THAT MEANS A DETOUR (for you) OF NO MORE THAN 6 KILOMETERS (part 4 of §49 STVZO). Might help to tell that the cops when they stop you and want to keep the bike.
So, always know where you are and know which direction you were NOT planning to go (i.e towards an urban place) ;)
Only cops that particularly check bike exhausts (around the hot spots) will have that equipment. But again, they are the most likely to stop you anyway. A normal traffic cop will look at your speed, overtaking, etc.
Good luck!

I have heard that there is a new EU law now :
The police is not allowed to keep the bike or the exhaust anymore !! You only have to pay and to go to the next TÜV station with the right exhaust :-)
This sounds .......
Have fun
