I always thought that "in General" Ducati owners are unique individuals. Classy, know what they want attitudes and usually have a good career and/or a decent income.
That being said, if you own a nice car/truck, have a dependable cage that you drive regularly or if it's just a garage queen and you're proud of it...
Let's see it!!! So this is a thread for Cars & Bikes..
Nows your chance to show off your ride:cool

That's about it for motor toys. I've been playing with cars pretty much all my life so when the time came for a midlife crisis I got all confused and traded my supercharged Mercedes in on a used Jetta Wagon... I figured that one didn't need to be shown...

Otherwise, the mrs' daily whip is a 2005 Subaru Legacy sedan, and when I do take four wheels, it's my old beater '93 Ford Exploder Sport. So far this year, I've driven it less than 2k miles and filled it up a whopping total of 9 times. :)

Man!! Some of you have some pimp ass street bikes !
When I finally decided to start riding (on the street) in 1998 I started with a Kawasaki Drifter to commute on (So. Cal traffic is horrid).
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v646/Indetrucks/Ducati/bike1.jpg
Then after about a year of that I graduated to an R6 (we all know what those look like).. then sold that after 2 years because I was tired of risking my life commuting back and forth to work.
I vowed once I got a job closer to home I would settle for no less than a Ducati.
I grew up with muscle cars, road race bikes and Dirt bikes so riding was not a problem, but risking my life with all the cagers was.
I sold my 2002 998 Duc as soon as I found out about the 1098 after 4 years of beloved ownership..
Here she is before the track Body work:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v646/Indetrucks/Ducati/StockDuc.jpg
Here she is after the Bayliss Body work that I installed just in case I dropped her during a track day:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v646/Indetrucks/Ducati/RaceDuc006.jpg
As far as cars go I was lucky enough to keep a few around.. Just had to build the garage bigger :)
1962 Pro Street Nova, 468 Big Block full cage etc.. I had this car since high school (1997) and built it ground up.

1965 Malibu SS 454 Big Block (Sold my 93 Supra for it back in 2004)

1964 Lincoln Continental, built from ground up, started in 1995 (again, High School)

1972 Mini Cooper (Import) Gotta support my British heritage

Here they all are stuffed in the garage...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v646/Indetrucks/Cars/Garage/allUp.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v646/Indetrucks/Cars/100_0238.jpg

A couple other bikes (not in garage pic)

Oh, and I drive the most beat up 1994 Toyota Pick up truck you have ever seen (which you can actually see in the background of the Lincoln pick).. lol
But it gets me to work and the tracks!

That's my problem...definitely. Although MV-999R suggested i keep the 998S FE instead of the R1 and i can get more money for the 998 so i'm selling that to help pay for the 1098. So i can't be that irresponsible. Screwed up priorites woul be if i tried to keep all the bikes...which the wife would never let happen!

^ I for one is finished with selling my bikes. I always mod my bikes and seem to lose a lot of money when selling it.
The wife is not going to change my mind http://www.motomummy.com/Forum/images/smilies/vertag6qw.gif
Personally, I don't own a car. I live 1 km from the chemical plant where I work. And I have groceriestore, bakery, etc...all in walking distance.
Not having to buy a car, allows me to buy my dreambikes.

I agree completely! I understand reality and economics though. It's just hard to let a Duc go. Take me for instance-I reeeaaaaallly want a 1098, but I love my Monster. I'd like to have both. Anybody need a kidney?:lmao No, sorry, that was in bad taste. I might just have to wait until next year.:(

1988 Porsche 911 Convertible Speedster Serial # WPOxxxxxxxx1384
This 1988 "flachbau Speedster" has only 11,030 original miles. This car has been published in the book Porsche 911 by Dennis Adler, page 63. This car is said to be perhaps the best non-factory body style ever produced. It was built by Bob Anziano. This was Bob's personal Slantnose Speedster, custom built in 1991 from the ground up using a 1988 Carrera Cabriolet. This Speedster is believed to be a one of kind creation by the Master himself.
After 14 years this all steel OEM body is still SHOWROOM. The engine is clean and looks and runs like an 11,000 mile car should. The car has a 3.2 liter engine with the G-50 transmission. It is a head turning flawless car that will surely increase in value. The exterior is Ferrari Fly Yellow with no blemishes. The interior is black and is perfect in every way. The car has AM/FM with single compact disc player. Everything works including the clock.
The car has cruise control, power seats, power door locks, power mirrors, and power steering. All of these options were tested and work perfectly.
Catering more to the aesthetic, rather than performance Bob Anziano has created some of the most exotic 911 hybrids of the 1990's. Anziano is a custom coachbuilder in the tradition of the Porsche Special Works Department, where the only limitation is the size of your bank account. This unique car combines several different 911 models into one. It is a Speedster with a Turbo rear fender, whale tail, and a 930 slant-nose front end. This has become one of Anziano's most celebrated designs and perhaps one of the best non-factory body styles ever produced. The engine was tuned and mapped by the famous engine builder Alan Johnson of the Porsche Racing Team.

Streetbikes, trackbikes, racebikes, dirtbikes, 'tards, bring them all out for a 1098-forum pageant.
RC51 and Cannondale motard are sold so I'm left with this keeper. It's a 1973 Ducati 750 Sport that's going to see some corrections in the near future, that's a Bevel to old timers. :badteeth and yes, the Bevel cover is leaking.

Hi Dave:
Thanks,
No not many. this one was more than a little rough when i got it. not many true early Jotas in the US all I believe were
gray market ( this one was brought in by the late Lance Weil)
It took a lot of time and $$$ to get it back on the road again.
but Laverdas are worth the trouble.
Origonal color was silver with a black frame. I liked the later
orange over silver so that is what i did.
Its a beast that you had better respect.

Non-US citizens can join the US military but they are fairly limited in choice of occupation in the military. For example, military police and other sensitive MOS are off-limits to non-citizens but you can do the regular stuff like cook and ship security.

What's "military police" versus "ship secuirty"? In the Navy they'd both be MAs. I guess Army MPs need to be citizens? Never heard that of Navy MAs, but they prob fall under the same thing. Officers have to be US citizens too...

It's actually Marines. The Marine MPs have to be US citizens but they have a MOS for Ship Security where you are stationed on a Navy boat and provide security on the ship, basically you stand around and watch rivets grow old on a boat. It's such a boring gig that even the recruiter couldn't make it sound exciting to an 17 year old who's eager to sign up.

Any job requiring a secret clearance can only be had by US citizens. US residents can get any other job. Theres really not that many jobs that require a secret clearance.

Depends on where you go. If you dont mind me asking are you west coast or east, and brown shoe or black? Your stickers are red so I know your enlisted.
I've been lucky enough that in my 1st command (west coast)we just went on small dets. 2nd command (west coast) I deployed twice...and came back pockets loaded! Now I'm on shore (just got here) and the funds are dwindling...mostly because I bought a house. But I have a feeling IA has my name all over it....soooo maybe I'll be back soon.
Like I was saying, depending on where you go, you can get some really nice bags and shoes cheap. And she'll love em because noone here in the states will have them.

And the S2000 is like sex on 4 wheels. It is the only thing this side of my motorcyles that will put a smile on your face from ear to ear. It simply is an AMAZING car. I could only imagine what Allans Lotus is like.

Harsh and bumpy! :) Acutally, if you've ever ridden one of the early R1's (pre-2004), the twitchiness is similar because the Elise has a very short wheel base and small steering wheel so little imputs = big results. Concentration is a must. The A048 tires GRIP but need to be at proper operating temperatures before they do so - cold, they're like lumps of clay. They also heat cycle out after 5 to 6K miles. Not your average street car. :)
PS: Sports bikes are still much, much more fun :D

Sounds like the exact opposite of the S2000. It is so stable and handles like its on rails. The roads around here are pretty harsh and it handles the bumps without much fuss. It is one of my favorite roadsters of all time. Although the new Audi TT looks tempting :biggrin

I suspect any vehicle with short wheel base, will have the same personality -quick darty steering. The Elise is stable and grips but you have to be focused on your driving because it will go exactly were you tell it to go -not where you meant to you. ;) As for the harshess and the difficult getting in and out, that's how we weed out those who aren't really committed. :)

That's true but I think BMW was also trying to protect the current M3 and intensionally watered down the 335. They'll probably up it a year after the new M3 comes out...which is when, btw?

Accelerating 0-60 in 2.8sec? Ask the Flyboys here what's it like to go 0-180 in 2.8 secs while being launched off a catapult. Or anybody who pilots any literbike from this millenium and have it rocket to 60 in 2.8-3.0sec.
Actually, getting to 60 is pretty boring in and of itself because once you get there, what else is there to do on a public road in America? You want to enjoy your time getting there. On a track, you're launching at the grid to go way past 60 and other places, you're not accelerating at a standstill but rolling on... so it's fairly irrlevant there too.
Besides, we know 99.5% of Ariel owners will likely have the ability to rocket to 60mph from standstill in 3.9sec or above because we are not professionals in ideal settings.
Just sayin', all the emphasis on quoted times are pretty useless other than for benchracing.

I'm kind of in a quandary here. My wife and I are expecting our first child in July/August and I'm thinking of selling the Elise because:
1) I ride more than I drive (26 months and only 11,000 miles on the car);
2) I want to use it for occasional baby transport (that's for our family car) and I'm not sure if a car seat would even fit.
3) I'm loosing interest in cars in general (next car would be just a simple beater car since I'm not really interested in any thing else); but here's the kicker
4) In April or June, I can sell/trade the Elise and get a 1098 to keep the MV company and then get a beater car like a Kia Spectra.
So, I'm a bit on the fence about what to do - but then having two sport bikes means I'll be riding more and my wife's not going to be happy with that. Alternatively, I can keep the Elise, pick up a cheap beater car, and keep the MV and hold off till next year for a 1098. Hehehe. Look at the quote on my signature line.

Thats a tough one. I originally purchased the S2000 so that my wife could join me on rides. (I dont ride passengers on my bikes) and have fallen in love with the car. I definitely drive it more than my pickup now. I researched several cars prior to the S2000 like the MX5, 350Z, Z4 & TT but eventually picked the S2000 for its more focused character. Granted the new Z4, 350Z etc are more powerful but I think the S2000 captures the true essence of a roadster. I would have loved an Elise/Exige but they are a little too focused (I cant believe I just said that :confused ) for a weekend car for my wife and I. Afterall we do take it for out of town drives and the Lotus is probably not the most practical car for these trips. I do hope that you can keep your Lotus as they are amazing vehicles but in the end you must do what makes you happy. Currently I am bikeless (other than the scooter :moped )so the S2000 has really been seeing some spirited driving :ride but there is a new Duc in the forecast and the S2000 wont be going anywhere :D

I agree, I purchased an 06 MX5 on impulse. I was looking at many vehicles, but picked this one for it's slight hint of practicality. It only has 168 HP, but the car is a blast. I have the sport shift tranny with paddle shifters. I'm to in love with spending money on bikes to invest alot of cash in a car, but this one has me itching to start tinkering.
My wife has the SUV and I only use the car to drive to the office or to see clients. We use it to go away for the weekend. I really love the car, but occasionally I need to pick my son up from school. The car seat fits fine. It actually has the system that latches to the frame. Although my son loves to ride in the car, it is a little scary to have him in it. I've decided that I'll get a used sedan or truck for hauling the kids. I'll only get rid of the MX5 for an M roadster.
