Hi guys,

Had the first service and termi slipons done last tuesday at frasers cost $655.. a bit steep if you ask me but what do you do.

Taking it for a run on sunday morning looking forward to hearing
those termis.

There all ripoffs in Syndey Deno :whip Had my first service done yesterday. around $700 bucks but I got them to install the ecu and air filter for the full system and also change front sprocket to a 14T, I installed the exhaust/piping myself as I wanted to polish the pipes up first.

Let me just say tho I called in a sickee today and took her for a nice ride. Fooken loud as and the power delivery is now insane. The deep exhaust sound makes it 10 times more enjoyable to ride now. Also 2nd gear wheelies comes up way earlier too:drool

On the brighter side, Jamespopit, the weather is so shite at the moment you're not missing much riding.

the national park is improved, but its so heavily policed these days you really need to get out of town.. the best fun I have had in a while was las weekend up the Oxley Hwy (4 hrs nth of sydney), what an amazing road, no cops, tight stuff, sweepers, the lot... bring on the Duc! I also just got organised for the Phillip Island GP, heading down on Thurday through the snowies, mt hotham, Omeo run.. cant wait.. go Casey!

hi im chad and am from the wollongong area..

i should get my black S in early august after placing deposit in Feb..:whip..

the sad part is i go to the states for a month at the end of august, but am hoping to clock the first 1000k's up before i go then get home and hit the GP..

have already got some bling for my black duck but no bike.:(

Full termi's system
CF hugger
CF key gaurd
CF heel guards
personalised plates

& am currently chasing to ducati tank bag for the GP trip

just a couple more decisions then i think thats enough mods.. am deciding on what colour/type combo of clutch plate & cover i want to go along along with pazzo levers

so my house is filling up of road bike parts(crashed my Cbr600rr at eastern creek turn 4) for both honda and ducati and no road bike to ride only got my enduro to fill the void..

bring on early august:scooter

Chad, ride down to PI will be nice - going along the coast via Sale, etc? I always used to get a pic with my bike out front of the MotoGP/SBK sign near the info station just across the bridge - would love a pic of a 1098 in front of that (unfortunately I won't be going this year).

Are you doing the Ducati tent or Siberia, etc?

just had the trip confirmed for the Island (hard work getting accommodation this year). I am heading in a small group staying at Mt Beauty (thursday night), then over Mt Hotham, Omeo and then along the Gt Alpine Rd to Bairnsdale, then onto the island for Friday, Saturday and Sunday night . Blasting back Monday through Cann River and the Monaro Hwy. It would be good to catch up and talk about the ride down, have a few beers and watch some top racing.

Picked it up this afternoon. You're right about the weather - I got drenched. It was a bit nerve racking, as I havent ridden in almost 8 years & these definitely weren't the sort of conditions you want to be test riding a new bike. However, the bike seemed reminisent of the old 916, but with a lot more punch. The riding position (I thought) was better & the brakes are awesome - you need to be very careful with the front until your familiar. Once home I fitted the CF key guard & front sprocket cover (easy jobs) before wiping her down & putting her to bed. I can't wait for some decent weather to give her a proper run.
Where about's are you Brom? I've been out of the scene for so long I only have one riding buddy left - I'd be keen to hook up with some locals for a bit of a ride at some time.

No riding for eight years and you picked up a 1098 in that weather, BRAVE. After being warned about the brakes, I was nervous riding one on a nice sunny 35 degree day.

This weather sucks. I admit that I don't want to ride if it's raining. I even skipped a track day on the 21st that I had been looking forward to for ages. (Did you go Damian?) If the weather clears, I'm keen for a ride. I live in Cott.

Another MV owner recently introduced me to Perth Street Bikes;

http://www.perthstreetbikes.com/forum/index.php?

I suggest you register and check out the site, they have a 'Moto Italiano' section under 'Special Interests'. I have only been on one ride so far, to Lancelin and had a great day with them.

Hope to catch up with you all for a ride soon.

Just in time for some nice riding weather on Sunday.

Don't like the look of the weather for your ride home this morning...you may have to leave it to late this arvo...(gives me a chance to nip out and have a quick look at the black bike).:cool

Very nice Chado - hey.. I've got one just like it!! Unfortunately, over here in the West, they're not allowed to deliver new bikes with sports exhausts, ($10000 fine for each bike sold) so we generally have them put on at the first service. So mine will be going on then - I plan to get it ceramic coated too. I stopped in at the service department while I was at Frasers, they showed me a bike with the full termis on - and started it for me.. fugging awesome! You must be one happy dude.

Yeah - I picked it up @ 8am on Saturday morning :) Did you test ride any of the bikes yesterday Broms? It was getting quite busy when I left there.

No I didn't, it was too busy. I took my car for a run with my 4yr old son, so I couldn't have ridden anyway. I like the motard, may go back and ride it. Darren told me your black bike looks beaut, hope you put a few k's on it today. Nice day, I cleaned and lubed a couple of chains this morn and then rode my HD this arvo, plenty of bikes out.

Sorry to hear about the rider that collided with a car and died on Mundaring Weir road. Sad way to end a great weekend.:(

I'm really busy at the moment and find it difficult to find the time to ride, but if any of you Melbourne 1098 owners have the time and want a ride.....i can meet up with you at Korumburra or Leongatha... even if it's only for a yak and a coffee as it would be sweet getting a few 1098's together.....!

I know what you mean!! :drool

I picked up my 1098S on Friday 21/12 from Zagame, it was wall to wall 1098 and 848. My girlfriend had never seen one in the flesh and is REAL close to signing up for an 848!!

I picked it up in the pouring rain, good thing I knew it was going to be shit weather and hired a Sprinter van to collect it with. I wasn't keen to ride it all the way back to the Latrobe Valley in the rain if I could avoid it.

I've only had a chance to ride it twice but have enjoyed it thoroughly, this is my first Ducati and I am loving it!!

Hi guys, I live in Harkaway (near Berwick) East of Melbourne. Maybe we could do a day in the hills & compare notes?

That'd be fun!

I'd be keen to go for a blast with a couple of other 1098s. I work shift work, so I get a bit of time off during the week as well as weekends, depends on the roster situation... Anyone else keen??

I meant 1098s as in the plural, more than one 1098...

Besides, what does it matter if you don't have the S version...? I know I don't care... The guys I ride with down here have "only" got Gixxers, my brother is the only one with a thou and that is 7 years old....

For all I know you can probably ride better than me anyway!! :) :) :)

Hey Peter,

I'm in Brissy, on the southside. I generally head out Saturday mornings early as there seems to be less plods and squids out to spoil the fun. PM me or post up, I have seen a few on the road around here so might be able to round a few up for a ride. Have you tried any of the local forums?
