I was at Jenning Race Track on Feb 24th, 25th. Had a ball. Sat temps were 75 degrees, and on Sun, 72 degrees. It is a 1800 mle round trip to this track, cost $420 just in gas. Worth every penny.
I am in the intermediate class and so was riding partner. Kevin my riding partner started off real fast, I am a slow starter. Later on, I pick up the pace, the track is sweet. I put the pass on a gix 1000 and a ZX10, cool. They also pass me too. http://mysite.verizon.net/cehowardrc51/badteeth.gif
I am picking the turns where I got the edge and turn 13th was the best for me, and turn 1 I was showing the liter bikes a wheel, but they would power away going into 2. Anyway, it was good learning ride. On Sunday, I get a little faster. Near the end they declare open track, with 2 advance riders, 7 intermediate, and 3 novice.
I locked up behind one of the advance riders on a sv650. He was cooking. To my suprise, I am right on him for a full lap, and see where I could pass him on turn 13. Coming around the second lap to turn 13, I am close behind, and already planned to go in faster, turn deeper, and get on the gas quicker in turn 13, which would put me on his outside coming around.
Ha, all well and good, I came in fast, but I FROZE. I have never went into that corner that fast, my mind would not let me release the brake, look away, or turn the bike. Dam, I knew I better do something fast, or I am going to run off, crash or both. I screamed at my right hand "get off the phucking brake, and turn the bike", finally I did, I blew the corner, but I survived the turn. To put the best look on a bad situation, I gave myself credit because I didn't panic, and was aware of what I was doing wrong, and got myself out of it.
I came to the conclusion that the reason I froze was because I was riding over my head. I had did that move several times that day, but at a slower pace. Anyway, it is all part of the learning curve. http://mysite.verizon.net/cehowardrc51/badteeth.gif
Like I said, didn't get any action pics, but here is a pic of my crew. Coleman, Kevin and his friend, Lisa. Ages, are 66, 21, and 25.. I only hang with young people, keeps me young!!http://mysite.verizon.net/cehowardrc51/badteeth.gif
