Here are some photos I took from the intro on saturday February 10th in Charlotte. The show the 999R, which is amazing, and the 1098s presented there. Both are as beautiful in person as one would think. It was my first time seeing a 1098 in person, and it was worth the drive. I think the 1098 is more photogenic, while it looked, dare I say it, staid next to the 999R. Both were amazing, as you can see. Here they are.

This is the last- Sorry, I want to spread the love... Also sorry some are not centered/totally in focus, i was looking at the bikes more than the camera!

Nice! So were you the first one to recieve their 1098?

Nope, I can only dream. It was a nice gentleman (named Tom? I can't remember). When I first showed up (before noon), he had wheeled the bike outside for better sunlight and photos. It was really nice. He then wheeled it back inside. I am not sure if he was the first to receive a 1098s or not, the shop opened at 9:00 AM.
One day, maybe an 848, or a slightly used 749S when the time comes and I have the skill to really enjoy it on a track. Those are my plans and dreams...

The proud owener is Tom Blocker. He took it for a spin on Saturday, then took it back to the shop last sunday so they can show it off all week.

I'm next in line for a base at this dealership...

I attended the 1098 premeire at this dealership and I would add that the 999R looked great and was trick with carbon and bits, but the 1098 spanks its arse in performance vs. price!

Staid is not the verbiage I would use in this instance...

Haha, fair enough- staid is perhaps too strong of a word. The 999R did look good though... but the 1098S looked INCREDIBLE. Progress is amazing, the 1098S provides much higher performance and arguably better looks for a fraction of the price. Amazing, Ducati has pulled off a cracker with the 1098.

Congrats to the 1098 base purchase - given the money, I would have ordered the base myself- the value is incredible. Enjoy it. I know you will...

Were any of you guys there friday night? Maybe in this pic?

Also, the 999 was beautiful, thought I took a pic of it but apparently not. I met Tom on fri. night and he seemed like a heck of a nice guy. I too am in line at this dealer. Can't wait!

Nope, I was there on Saturday only. No deposit down, just wanted to finally see a 1098 in person.
It is a funny thing, usually staring and taking pictures of a stranger's bike is unthinkable and just weird and sketchy, but Ducatista are a different people. Good People. Thanks again to both Tom and the owner of the 999R.

And, of course, congrats on being in line for a 1098. Enjoy it for the rest of us!

I went on Friday night. I was the guy in the Panther's shirt sitting down at the parts counter talking to one of the Tech's that prepped the bike. I think his name was Thomas. He had a long zz top beard, large ear ring a backward ballcap on.

NoLoft,
Any word on the delivery of your bike? I've been waiting with a deposit since October. I am guessing next week or first of March at the latest for the base model...

Unfortunately yes. I am waiting on a yellow and they are set to be the last delivered. End of April, first week or two of May, nothing exact. I put my deposit down in early November. Six months of waiting if that estimate is correct. :sweat

I couldnt wait that late in the riding season for a bike. Red base with carbon everywhere is gonna suit me fine. (I wanted a black bike anyway, so the carbon will suffice.)
