Not ponch or Myself, not a Ducati, but a good friend of mine...

This guy is a friend of mine that went down this morning on his way to work and is in for a very long recovery...

THANK GOD HE ALWAYS WEARS HIS GEAR...!!! Not to mention he he a pretty proficient rider... He sent me a txt from the hospital to let me know he's badly busted up, but OK... he says he can't remember anything that happened...

His injuries so far are: shattered R femur, both hips broken and a badly broken L arm/shoulder... He also bit completely through his tongue...

In the area of his crash there is a very active deer crossing leading to a lush green field... That's what i'm laying the odds on...

He's being moved from PG Shock Trauma to Baltimore Shock Trauma in a few hrs...

Prayers have already been sent by many, please keep them coming...

LOL, it was cold as hell this morning...

Yes, on his way to work... The road he crashed on bypasses most of the town bottle neck areas...

He pretty much rides 365 days a year... He don't ride below 20 degrees tho...

It could be much worst. But the damage you described to me...jeez! This is just the 1st of many. We always seem to have a lot of bad wrecks and tiki bar opening is around the corner. I need to be more careful myself zipping up and down pegg road.

I'd put my money on deer also. But not everyone is like RAD, he just busts through them...lol.

Oh man. Hope he's alright in the end. Bike doesn't look too bad - wonder if he came off & hit a tree (falling off doesn't scare me - falling off & hitting something solid does). Good thing somebody found him!

Your not kidding about somebody finding him. A good friend of my fiance's ran off the road about 2am and was ejected from his vehicle. They didn't find him till 7 and it was already to late.

Stuff like this makes me go shopping for more gear.

I went to the scene after work and there was a very light 3 - 5 foot skid before the bike went down... It didn't slide very far so he was not going fast, but he impacted a pretty big sized tree not far from where the bike was lying...

Just spoke to his buddy who has been with him all day coz hiz wife is a mess... and he said tongue is REALLY swollen, femur has a small fracture, L & R pelvis are broken along with 2 vertabrae in the lumbar area... He has good sensations and movement everywhere, so that is HUGE...!!!

I'll let you know more as I get it..

He went into surgery @ 7:30 am this morning and returned from recovery around 2 pm... All went well with no suprises...!!!

The nurses said they will have him walking by tomorrow afternoon...

One of his nurses is my old neighbor and she said he is doing quite well considering his injuries... She said he is a pretty funny guy...

That is a good sign because he is a jokester...:thumbup

He is kind of hobbling around in short, shuffling steps within his room and that is about it so far... With the aid of a walker of course... Nurses say he is determined to ride again which is a good thing...!!!

He still can't remember anything, but maybe it will come to him later... Getting mobile and getting back on are more important at the moment...

More to follow...

Shuffling around won't help his bones, but to each their own. Continued best wishes. All the gear in the world won't help you when you hit a tree!

He is being discharged 28 Feb to his home... The nurses say he is quite mobile and determined to get better... That sounds about like him... Good POSITIVE attitude...:thumbup He is walking alot with the aid of his walker,
(No more shuffling steps) but the road to recovery has to start somewhere... :scooter

It sounds as though he had a pretty bad concussion too. Mental fogginess is a pretty scary feeling.
