With the huge amount of growth and popularity on this forum has gone through in the past couple months, how about a "Regional" areas like what I've seen other forums. Examples are a Southwest, Northwest, East, Midwest or to be even more specific, by state, California, Washington, Texas, Florida, New York etc.

Has this topic been brought up before?

I hate to mention it but http://www.ducati1098.net/registry.php has a good regional map onto which you cam "pin" your location. Can we not enable that on here?

There is a module for google maps to be used within the forum.

The biggest question is would it be used?
It's a lot of work if no one uses it, I have done this on a couple other sites and it was used for the first month and died away.

As for the regional locations, this is popular on many forums, we have talked about it and decided that we would wait for enough members to join and then look at it. The big question is what regions? it would be pretty lengthy if we listed every state? Any ideas on this?

The last thing we want is a front forum page with 40 catagories on it, maybe creating a forum and then have sub forums in it would be the answer.

It looks as if we have a big enough member base now that we need to look at it.

Post up some thoughts for the regions and don't forget overseas too.

Keep the great ideas coming.... as this is what will make this place what it is... a great forum.

The only way that would work is to have one forum and have regional sub forums in it.

Or have a Rides section where you could post where you are and when you are leaving ;)

I agree, having states would be too cumbersome! How about regions like:

Southwest-California, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, etc

Northwest-Oregon,Washington, Colorado, Idaho, etc

Central-Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Chicago

Northeast-New York, New Jersey, Pennslyvania, Massachusattes, Virginia etc

Southeast-Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennesse, Lousianna

We can also include overseas countries as well, like Germany, Sweden, United Kingdom, Australia.

I thnk it would make it easier for members to plan gatherings, group rides, bon fires, etc. My .02

I like the idea of regional forums the only concern I have is that Ive seen alot of valuable info get posted in regional sections and never make it to the appropriate categories. This could create a headache for the mods. Just an observation. :)

thats true, however, it does make group gathering and events much easier and more organized. also opportunity for people see them not flooded to last page.

Totally agree with you. Just seen some of the sub forums become "Private" forums for lots of valuable info. And its not like there is a whole lot going on here in Louisiana anyway :badteeth ...................Hey does anyone else hear that banjo playing :biggrin

I think just adding another section and breaking up to regions would be the best way/best

El Presidente's what's the verdict?

Is 1098-forum gonna be granted with regional areas?

Maybe we can possible plan a SoCal 1098 gathering and group ride through the outskirts of some of the best Canyons in the entire United States! :scooter
