I hear that the Nashville Speedway has open track days and was wondering if this was true and if so has anyone attended any of the sessions? I have never been on a track and I am wanting to find a track within an hour or 2 of my house (Hopkinsville, Ky.) that I can go to as a spectator to get a feel for what a track day was like and find out what I need to do in order for my bike to be allowed on the track. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks...

I don't know about their open track days, but I've ridden there at a track day when we rented the place last year and this year I raced there with WERA. I really like it... fun track. You should definitely go there if you get a chance.

The Nashville Super Speedway's web site makes not mention of any motorcycle related events. I sent them an E-mail last night requesting info and I will give them a call tomorrow if I get time while at work. Looking forward to getting on a track but I am sure it will be a bit intimidating at first not having any track experience. I doubt there will not be any racing in my future but who knows.
Thanks for the reply and info.

If you are nervous about your first track day you might consider coming with us up to Putnam Park this spring/summer. We host several days there during the year and our days are super laid back. We keep small groups - maybe 15 on the track at a time (other groups do 30+) and we have professional and semi-professional riders who are more than willing to help anyone one on one as long as they want.
We get a lot of really good feedback from first time riders about how easy it was to get acclimated to the track environment with us since it is such a low pressure day - it is just fun!
Putnam is 2.5 hours from Louisville... but it looks like around 4 hours for you if you go straight North to Evansville then Terre Haute.
This might be a really easy way for you to get some time on the track without any pressure.

Sounds like a good time. I could definitely use some instruction on proper riding techniques. A 4 + hour drive would not be bad, gives me an excuse to make a weekend trip of it. Keep me posted on the dates and times please. Anything special need to be done to the bike other than removing or taping lights? I am running engine ice as coolant but will change to something else if needed. I also will need to get a set of full leathers. I am thinking a 1 piece set. I will just have to find a shop that carries them so I can try them on before purchasing. I prefer not to shop on line not knowing how they will fit first.
Thanks again...

Once we have a finalized schedule I'll post up. Nothing special to the bike really - just needs to be in good shape as far as tires, brakes, lights taped, all standard stuff. If you are ever in Louisville we have some Ducati Performance 1 piece suits... that is what I wear and I really like them. Definitely try a suit on before you buy as they run weird sizes. I have an Alpinestars suit and a Dainese suit that are both the same size and the Dainese suit fits much better - like it is a size or two smaller or something. The Alpinestars is huge on me.

There appears to be a WERA race there (Nashville) in April. Think I will go check it out.
