We'll gear came in yesterday, shit easy to use, loads of details and access, TPS reset, balance out throttle bodies, fuel trim sweet CO 4.8% approx. (idled best at this reading)at each header port and finally readjust throttle bodies to bring down idle to 1550 rpm approx @ 92 deg engine temp. For those who can't get the idle down, I suspect your bleeds are holding too much idle, discovered this when idle speed motor(or idle air control IAC) was almost shut with engine idle speed at 1850 rpm. If the ECU can not bring down rpm, airs getting in somewhere to give you over 1400rpm suggested idle speed. Either past the closed throttle butterflies, bleed screws or IAC valve. You can test the base idle speed, to check butterfly openings, but you need to know how to induce the IAC to close.

My idle was bit high when I first got the bike - around 1500 up 1700 when hot.

All I did was remove the Evap Can and my idle is now perfect at 1400 rpm. It moves a little here and there but nowhere near as bad as it did previously.

Mate, over here where the Kangaroos punch the fuck out of you in the main streets of town and ......

Seriously. we don't have "evap cans", or Carbon canisters over here, so I can't comment.

I guess that won't help ya much then huh? :dunno

I picked up the VDST after the dealer wanted to charge me $140 to reset the freakin' service light. Works great :thumbup

On second thoughts, some ECUs pulse a control motor to vacuum bleed out the vapour from the carbon, did the bike have just vacuum hoses or was there a type of small device( looks like a windscreen washer pump) in the system.
Have you taken the lot out, or just disconnected?

I tossed the whole thing. I think Van-Man posted some pictures of the thing in his "How to shit can the Evap Cannister" post.

I don't recall seeing a pump on it anywhere

There are some pics right here:

Right, the little fittings that screw into head/inlet manifold are metered to constant bleed, (other that at WOT), the reason the idle rpm dropped was you have now fixed a vacuum leak, with or without vapour, like I said air (vapour) getting in idle goes up.

Makes sense. This is New Mexico so besides being fairly hot, we're also sitting at 5300 feet above sea level. Tossing the Evap Can and removing the butterfly valve made a pretty big difference in idle and low range performance. It runs much cleaner now at low speeds - say 35 to 45 mph where it used to sputter (almost like it had a lean surge before)

Yeah straight from these people, but I noted there's a NZ distributor you could try, with the keyspan USB adaptor and USPS freight $340.00 AUD.

VDSTS for your model + Keyspan USB adaptor, btw they don't seem to have web ordering, so you must call them, work out time difference to catch them during BH.
