OK I know my bike is STILL not finished but with hopefully some hope on the horizon that us Brits might at least at some stage this year get something resembling a summer, would anyone be interested in a UK 1098 / 848 Owners "Get Together / Annual Meet". I am confident mine will be completed by the first week of May!
Maybe a meet up and overnight stay somewhere convenient for most. I was thinking that we should maybe arrange to meet up on either a Friday night or a Saturday for those who are pressed for time (if working on the Friday) and staying in a Travel Lodge or something a bit grander if necessary and then going for a rideout the day after and stop of for a pub lunch (say on the Sunday) I would welcome ideas from all you UK owners as to a good venue that is easy for everyone to get to if coming from the North or South of the UK, as well as ideas as to whether you would like to combine the meet up with an outing somewhere. Ie a BSB round or the Moto GP or something else entirely. My wife and I are off to the annual Monster meet at a fabulous hotel in Warwickshire (Arrow Mill) at the end of May and they might not be averse to a similar event being held there, and the owner is very friendly and into bikes himself. So all you UK owners, please feel free to pitch in with your ideas. I was thinking maybe the tail end of June or beginning of July as a starting point. The DSC are not that proactive I have found in the past at getting such events off the ground but this forum is a such a great melting pot of ideas and more importantly traffic in terms of the sheer volume of people that read it, it seems the best place to promote such a plan. So get your thinking caps on guys & girls and hopefuly this can be an event to remember. I might also get the chance to finally meet some of you instead of through the electronic ether of the world wibe web. It will also be a great opportunity to have a natter and compare bikes, ideas, drink beer, drink more beer and generally enjoy ourselves. Cant wait!!
