Hey. What have you guys got out of reserve? I just got back from a hell good ride (Tidbinbilla) but hit reserve a bit sooner than I thought. Got 35k's. Anyone run it dry? Wondering how much longer I could have gone. That's nursing it for the 35k's too. Was in the middle of nowhere. And, anyone been to Wakefield Park track? Was going to head to Eastern Creek but just found out Wakefield's only an hour away. Any good? Cheers.

I haven't run mine dry but I do know from working out my fuel consumption regularly (yeah, I know I'm a geek!) that if you take it easy the 1098 will give around 8-10l/100km or better, on average. I have had 6l/100km on a trip, cruising down the (highly policed) highway and back. By taking it easy I don't mean you are getting dragged off at the lights by old ladies in a Magna, but just riding it, not using a handful of throttle or high revs.
What I'm getting at is if you know your bike will give 10l/100km (at the worse) then that means you will get 10km out of 1 litre of go juice. The 15.5 litre tank on the 1098 has a reserve of 4 litres so, by rights, you should be able to get 40km (maybe more) out of it once the light comes on... if you take it easy... and consider other variables like wind, hills, payload weight, etc will have an effect on this as well.
Normally I just ride mine how I want to, say "bugger the fuel consumption" and just put fuel in it when the light comes on. But at least by doing this I have some idea of how far I SHOULD get if I'm away from a servo and the light comes on.
The most I have ridden with the light on is 38km and it took 14.5 litres to fill.... still had a litre to go!!!
