Wasn't much more to tell, I went to the suspension setup guy but he wasn't in his shop. Then sky turned all black, so I rushed home. Kinda just got home before the rain, hasn't stopped raining since. I cleaned the bike in the afternoon.

With the speedo indicating in Kph, after 299 it indicates - - - .

It was great while it lasted. Yeah, I low sided it, too much juice coming out of a turn. Its OK now, no visible damage (from 10' away).
:wflagNo more track days on that bike. I'll stick with the SS.
The snow is good, no break in the fun for me, skiing is as much fun as MCling.:)

It was my 996, a few months ago now, probably no more exciting than a freeway drone home from work.

The last ride I remember taking that wasn't simply commuting was my '74 750 GT, it was running great but the speedo cable broke. Brought it inside to fix that and change the oil, it hasn't seen daylight since (but it does have a new master cylinder on it now too)

Not yet, the only thing I have done so far is Levers. I did a write up on it but I didn't want to clutter up the site here with R1 stuff..lol People already look at my sig funny.. lol

I should have my sliders, brake lines & new stands here today or Monday, then they will go on next.

The next thing will be exhaust and PCIII, I'm still waiting for them to become available though.

They are an absolute blast! A little bit of road racing style mixed in with a bit of arena cross topped off with 'tards with less than 100hp rambling around a 1.3 mile course and you got yourself a fun track!

KTM usually host a demo day @ Grange track up in Victorville, CA once a month and for $100 you can ride any supermoto that they bring all day long until your hearts content! They also provide lunch and gas! :badgerslayer

I really wanted to try the 950 supermoto... maybe next time!

i know that you will miss your 996R
how was the K1200S ride?

I'm sure I'll miss the 996R, but the 1098S should help erase the memory - especially on the track!

The K12S is just an incredible sport touring machine. I can ride long days without getting tired, just last Spring I did an 8 state, 8day, 4000 mile ride with nary a problem. Rode from Seattle down into Baja, then rover to play in the mountains of Utah and Montana before heading home. I even rode it on the track and it can keep litre sbks in check down the straights.

The combination of K12S and 1098S will be nice stablemates!!!

It was actually Sete's bike, Troy was just borrowing it! It was very narrow, very short and the pegs were way high for me. It was on a stand so I couldn't lean it from side to side as I do to assess weight, but from the specs, I know it's very light. The 800cc was even smaller, approaching the physical size of a TZ 250. That's the 800cc in my signature. When I figure out how to load larger pictures, I'll post more of my race bike.

It was good, just trying to get a few miles racked up on her so I can put it on the dyno. It did die on me once at a stop sign... lol That's not good but the only time it has happened. I also got her up to about 165 indicated, so that was a little rush for sure. :)

One thing I have noticed on this bike compared to the 04 I had was this one seems more eager to run... it loves when you give it throttle... and you don't have to wait for it to wake up like the 04 did. Anything above 4500 rpm or so and it's ready to scream at the twist of the throttle.

On the way home I was thinking any more power than this and it would be pretty harsh on the street. I am really amazed at how they managed to squeeze some more power out of the 998cc motor, and then to make it so smooth also is amazing. The midrange is improved by about 80% IMO. If there was one thing I would make better... I would have to really think because I can't think of anything.

I do plan on going one tooth down (in front) next week so I will report back on that when it's done. I'm not sure if that will be too much or not but it was perfect on the 04-06 models. It may be a little much on this one.
